Dissertation Blues

As per usual I've been ridiculously busy with uni work. My life has been taken over with dissertation work and my desk constantly looks like this:

Due to the recent new addition to my flat this critter also makes an appearance every now and again.

I have to say she's not particularly conductive to much work. I think she has evil plans to take over the flat and have us killed in our sleep...

One of my friends was very kind and to try and cheer me up and get rid of my dissertation blues bought me this rather lovely mockingjay necklace :)

I literally cannot wait for the 28th when I shall be relaxing and drinking numerous cocktails and any/other/all types of alcohol!

I hope everyone else is having a fantastic Easter!

Maracattack - get this in your life!

I recently (well before Christmas but I forgot about exercise and started eating my weight in chocolate) bought the Miranda Hart exercise video and I am bloody glad I did.

It's called Maracattack and I also purchased my maracas! As you can see here;

There is also some new comedy footage at the beginning (totally didn't snapchat it to people) which is hilarious. Surely we've all seen Miranda eat wotsits of the end of a treatmill :)

If you've recently had a dip in working out or just want something really fun to do (with some really classic music) then I honestly suggest you give it a go!

Love to you all xxx

2013 Favourite and also WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

So, I wandered back over to my blog and noticed my last post was in March. MARCH! Do you know how long ago that was?! Do you?! I do, it was forever ago :)

However, all the blogger and the youtube favourites has put me in the mood (ooh-er). So on with the show...

My one and only non-makeup favourite is actually a truly short lived favourite as I got this for christmas. So I've only been using it for about two weeks but I immediately swapped over from my bright green bag that kept falling off my shoulder to this which has a beautiful long strap and a huge secure zip. Essentially I love this.
I can't say how much it was because it was a present. Google it?

The colours that have most constantly been on my nails this year (sometimes at the same time) have been No7 Totally Teal (£6) and Essie Navigate Her(£7.99).
I actually love both these colours. Although I think the Essie has the edge. Also I do think if you're in a rush you can get away with one coat of Essie because it's so thick and just mmm!

I've just tried to check the price of this mascara and either they've changed the packaging/formula of this or they've stopped making it. Tears of sadness. But the new Rimmel Lash Accelerator in some minging bumblebee yellow packaging is £7.99. Which I thought was rather a lot for mascara but I had the advantage of stealing this from my flatmate first :D
This is amazing at defining the lashes, not a single clump was had!

Onto Maybelline Lasting Gel Eyeliner which was also £7.99 and has actually lasted me aaaaages. I must have had this for about a year and it's only nearly running out now.
It is so thick and black and stays on all day. I already have my replacement lined up so I am good to go!

My current favourite blusher was a youtube video recommendation by slightlyscented (go watch and enjoy) and I actually love this! It's a really nice colour and you only have to use a small amount which is why it barely looks like I've touched it.
A quick google tells me this is £1.99 I remembered this being cheap and actually this has to be one of the best bargains ever!

I don't think I need to explain the collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer. It's £4.19 and works brilliantly! Everyone should have this in their life. Actually I thought I'd lost mine but actually I'd left it in my car so now I have an emergency one in case the man at the petrol station is cute :D

This is quite possibly my favourite thing of the year. Not make-up product but thing! I love it. A family friend gave it to me for my birthday and since then I''ve used it every single time I've done my makeup.
I've been tempted to buy the original Naked Palette for what feels like forever but even though I now know for sure how much use I'd get out of it I still can't seem to part with the cash!

Finally the thing making me smell beautiful this year is Viktor and Rolf's FlowerBomb.  She doesn't come home with me because she's too precious to go traveling :P

Right well either this has been a long post or a post full of picture. Or both. I'm really hoping the desire to blog more is a lasting one because I do miss this but I'm in my last semester of uni ever!

I those of you who have managed to stumble back to my blog had an amazing Christmas and drunken New Year :) I do love you all xxx

What Equality?

I rarely do serious posts but today I've read and seen a few things that have made me angry.

It's been in the news that Amazon have had to pull a line of t-shirts;

Apparently the slogans "keep calm and hit her" and "keep calm and rape a lot" were not to everyones liking. It's not just Amazon that have been selling these t-shirts but also clothing stores such as Topman.

A quick search online and what you find is astounding;

Both of these were taking from the Lush T-shirts website.

You don't have to look very far or for very long to see hundreds of these t-shirts that mock rape, domestic violence and a right to say no.

I don't feel like I am an extreme feminist. I believe we all deserve equality. That is why these sorts of messages make me angry. The majority (but not all) are aimed towards women and seeing them as objects, whether that is a sexual object or a punching bag. Topman's t-shirt was a list of reasons why "I'm sorry" such as drunkenness and provocation. These are the excuses so often used and so harmful to so many women, children and men's lives.

These shirts do not make the public more "aware" of domestic violence. They are simply there to provoke a reaction. Whilst the companies like Amazon say they didn't deliberately mean to cause offensive, it it absolutely laughable that at no point did anyone think to point out how disgusting and in Amazon's case sexist these shirts are.

These are not funny, not even "offensive funny" and this just goes to show that even in the 21st century it's an uneven battle.

Review: James Brown Shampoo and Hair Treatment

A review you say? Jenny have you gone mad? Well no, actually I haven't I've just bought a couple of hair products that to be honest I wasn't that impressed with and thought I'd let you lads know.

 Boots were (they may still be) doing a two for £8 on certain hair products and considering the hair treatment was roughly £7.50 on its own I decided to pick up the shampoo as well.

 I don't think I've ever heard anything amazing about James Brown but on the other foot I've never heard anything bad about their products either so if it promises voluminous hair then why not give it a go?
Out of the two product the shampoo was definitely the better one. It worked up into a really good lather and ehm... cleaned by hair... Can't say it made my hair any bigger.

The treatment was just rubbish. It says it'll moisturise the hair but my hair felt really dry after using these products and I just had to go and put on Moroccan oil after my shower.

I'll use these to use them up but I'll be sticking with tresemme as far as affordable shampoo and conditioners go because they really can't be beaten. Hope you have all had a great week :) xxx

Hello Again :)

It's weird trying to get into the swing of blogging again but I definitely miss it and whilst I still have what feels like an endless abyss of holiday left I am going to make sure I keep in touch with my computer. But not in a creepy way.

I have been about taking photos and things on instagram - changingtimesofsummer if you couldn't guess;

 I was taking my beautiful baby (dog not like, actual baby) for a walk and I could clearly see the weather was getting shit. And then...
Dun, Dun DUUUUUUN....

 Yup it snowed. No white Christmas but it snowed.

So cold I had to let the baby into bed. Mother was not amused. But I have to go back to Uni soon so I might as well make the most the little time I get with her.
 Alost as shocking as the snow is my new hair-do. I wanted to keep it long but to be honest I've been getting bored with it. I can't say for sure I love the fringe yet but I hope I get used to it. In any event my hair grows like the clappers so I'll be gone in about a month anyway :)
 The final photo is just me showing off. This bloody jigsaw took me, my boyfriend and occasionally my mum when she was passing about a week and a half to complete. It was a bloody nightmare, if my grandmother ever gets me a puzzle for christmas again then I may have to go look at the ingredients in 'George's Marvellous Medicine' and give her a fright :D
I hope you are all having a cheery Sunday :) and have a good week m'dears xx

Far Far Away

Christmas had come and gone. As has new year. I have been completely absent from the blog world which is sad because even if I'm not writing my usual bollocks I do like to read everyone else's stuff.

Since getting back from uni I have filled my life with baths.

Many, many baths.

And oh, so many bath bombs :)

This is me and my friends in the Fountain in St. Andrews. We went there for New Year which was awesome although the drive back to Edinburgh was a lot less than awesome.

And as per usual every Christmas Cav includes some sort of breakage. Last year was my foot. This year the iPhone screen. Excellent.

Lastly on my oh so interesting update, my love of netflix has now been pushed to a whole new level as they have added season 4 of Torchwood! Let's be honest who doesn't want to see more of John Barrowman Nom nom nom :D
